Capsicum stew

 

Ingredients :

Capsicum                   -           200 g

Coconut                      -           1 cup (grated)

Tamarind                   -            soak a piece in water

Turmeric powder    -            1/4 tea spoon

Coriander leaves      -             1/4 cup

Salt                              -            as per taste

Oil                                -            1 table spoon

For seasoning : 

Mustard, hing, clove

Saute with 1 spoon of oil and grind (masala) : 

Toor dal                         -             1 tea spoon

Besan or gram dal       -             1 tea spoon

Urid dal                          -              1 tea spoon

Coriander seeds            -              1 tea spoon

Fenugreek                      -               1/2 tea spoon

Dry red chilli                 -               3

Method to prepare :

1) Cut capsicum into square shaped pieces.

2) Grind coconut with water and squeeze it to get coconut milk.

3) Heat the pan and add the oil. After it gets heated, add the seasoning ingredients.

4) Add capsicum and saute it in low flame 

5) Add turmeric powder, tamarind water, masala, coconut milk and salt.

6) Let it boil. When the gravy thickens, turn off the stove and decorate the gravy with coriander leaves.

Note : Instead of capsicum, we can use egg plant and prepare stew.
