Moong daal payasam - a sweet recipe


Ingredients :

Moong daal.                1 cup 

Jaggery                         1/2 cup 

Boiled milk                  1/2 cup

Cashews                       10

Raisins                          10

Ghee                              4 tea spoons 

Cardamom powder    A pinch

Method of cooking :

1) Boil moong daal until it gets cooked well. If you use pressure cooker, three whistles are sufficient.

2) In a pan, mix cooked daal and jaggery and heat it in medium flame.

3) Stir it continuously until jaggery dissolves and the mixture starts boiling.

4) Add cardamom powder for flavour.

5) Turn off the stove or hob.

6) Fry cashews and raisins in ghee and add it to the mixture.

7) Finally add the boiled milk and mix it.

At last, delicious and healthy moong daal payasam is ready.

Alternatively, instead of cashews and raisins, you can also use small pieces of coconut fried in ghee which gives a heavenly taste. Usually, this is my mom's preference.
